I do not know if it also happens to you, every year I promise myself something. Later making my good intentions come true is another thing. The fact is that every year in Spain we say, this year I will not … this year I will … after Christmas I start …
Source: uveñeI think the list of the top ten would be:
1. To lose weight… or at least go on a diet.
2. To start doing sport…
3. Taking care of your body more.
4. Caring more your mind: read more and watch less television.
5. To improve my relationship … or find a partner.
6. To travel more.
7. To ask for a promotion … or leave this job I hate.
8. To care more for my friends.
9. To find a hobby, join painting, cooking or crochet classes,…
And of course the most popular:
10. To learn a new language.
True, in the beginning of January it is common to heard many phrases like “the diet is about to start”, “next week I start with guitar lessons”, “from January, I enrol swimmingpool”, “this is the last cake this year”.
Why do we so often fail?
I say … start with the task number 10. With a new language, you can then sign up for cooking classes in Spain, to get promotion at work, to travel to new countries where English is not spoken (welcome to eSpain), start to dance salsa (which if you undestand your muscular teacher or dark-haired professor speaking their mother tongue is more fun). All in one package.
For our Spanish readers: soon we will have proposals for the New Year. We´ll help you to accomplish your New Years´intentions on foreign languages … Stay tuned.
