The first problem the girls usually have is excess baggage. If it´s your problem, in the check-in desk they will tell you: “Tiene un exceso de equipaje. Debe pagar x euros”. When you check-in your suitcase, you should ask for your gate. To do this you say: “¿Cuál es la puerta de embarque?”. Later you´ll surely like to know: “¿A qué hora empieza el embarque?” or “¿Hay retraso?”.
Passing over the control of hand luggage, the guard will say: “Si lleva un ordenador, debe sacarlo del maletín. Quítese también el cinturón y las botas y colóquelos en la cinta”. This is the time when all passengers ridiculously run around the corridors with their pants down and in socks. After that awkward moment, we head to our gate. At airports many times you will hear over the intercom: “Consulte los datos de su vuelo en las pantallas. Los cambios en los vuelos no se anuncian por la megafonía de este aeropuerto” or “Por favor, vigile su equipaje”. On information screen you will need to understand the following words:
el número de vuelo
la compañía de vuelo
destino
hora de salida
puerta de embarque
If there´s change in your flight, the following information is displayed: “vuelo cancelado” or “retraso”.
Once on the plane, you have to listen to the presentation on security that is often done in two languages. In Spain you will hear:
“El cinturón de seguridad se abrocha así…y se desabrocha así…”
“Las salidas de emergencia están marcadas con señales luminosas”
“Si la presión en la cabina disminuye, las máscaras de oxígeno saltarán automáticamente”
And the information that you hear a lot in Spain lately: “Les recordamos que en este avión está prohibido fumar” or: “Les recordamos que este vuelo es no fumador”.
If you arrive at a Spanish airport, leaving the plane, you go to the area of “recogida de equipajes”. To find out where your suitcase is on the screen you need to find “el número de cinta”.

Colóquelo en la cinta- Put it on the belt.
Consulte los datos de su vuelo en las pantallas- Consult your flight information on the screen.
Los cambios en los vuelos no se anuncian por la megafonía de este aeropuerto- Changes in flights are not announced through speakers in this airport.
Por favor, vigile su equipaje- Please, watch your luggage.

Les recordamos que en este avión está prohibido fumar- We remind you that it´s forbidden to smoke in the aircraft.
Les recordamos que este vuelo es no fumador- We remind you this is no smoking flight.
